ATM ல் கிடைத்த 26 லட்சத்தை ஒப்படைத்த அப்துல் லத்தீஃப்!

ஹைதராபாத் SR நகரில் வசித்து வரும் மாணவர் அப்துல் லத்தீப். கல்லூரியில் பயின்று வரும் இவர், நேற்று காலை தனது முஸ்லிம் நண்பர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து அப்பகுதியில் உள்ள ஓர் அரசு வங்கிக்கு சொந்தமான ATM மில் பணம் எடுக்கச் சென்றுள்ளார். ATM கார்டை சொருகி கடவுச்சொல்லையும் அழுத்தி, அவருக்கு தேவையான ரூ 200 அழுத்தியுள்ளார்.

ஆனால் இயந்திரம் திடீரென திறந்துகொண்டு ரூ 26 லட்சம் சடசடவென வெளியே வந்துள்ளது. அந்த ATM மில் கேமராவும் இல்லை, செக்கியூரிட்டியும் இல்லை. 200 ரூபாய் எடுக்க சென்ற மாணவன் அப்துல் லத்தீபுக்கு 26 லட்சத்தை கண்டும் தன்னுடைய முஸ்லிம் நண்பனை அங்கேயே நிற்க வைத்துவிட்டு அருகிலிருந்த SR நகர் காவல் நிலையத்திற்கு விரைந்து சென்று தகவல் கொடுத்துள்ளார். உடனடியாக வந்த காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் வங்கி நிர்வாகிகளுக்கும் தகவல் கொடுத்தனர். அனைவரும் அங்கு வந்து பார்த்த போது 26 லட்சமும் அங்கேயே இருந்துள்ளது. அனைவரும் ஒரு நொடியின் அதிர்ச்சியடைந்து மாணவன் அப்துல் லத்தீபை கட்டியணைத்தனர். ATM இயந்திரம் சரி செய்யப்பட்டது. நெஞ்சை நெகிழ செய்த உணர்ச்சிமிகு இந்த சம்பவத்திற்கு ஆளான மாணவன் அப்துல் லத்தீபை அனைவரும் வெகுவாக பாராட்டினர். போலீஸ் கமிஷனர் மகேந்திர ரெட்டி அந்த மாணவனைப் பாராட்டி பணமுடிப்பும் கொடுத்து கவுரவப்படுத்தியுள்ளார்.

The Hyderabad police on Saturday felicitated a youth who found the cash box of an ATM with Rs 24 lakh unlocked and called the police. Sheikh Latif Ali had gone to withdraw Rs 200 from a State Bank of Hyderabad ATM on Friday night when he found the cash box open with no guard around. He called the police who found Rs 24 lakh in the unlocked ATM machine. It was later learnt that there was no CCTV camera. Ali, 22, completed his B.Tech (Electrical) this year and lives in a men’s hostel in Sanjeev Reddy Nagar. On Friday, he went to the ATM at State Bank of Hyderabad’s main branch in S R Nagar with two of his friends. “There was no guard outside and I did not find anything unusual. I inserted the card to withdraw Rs 200. As the machine dispensed the cash, a small door on the side of the machine fell open and currency notes fell out. I was dumbstruck as my account has not more than Rs 500. I asked my friends waiting outside to look for the security guard but they found no one,” Ali said. Ali said he tried to call a toll free number written on the notice board but it was for SBH life insurance. “Then I remembered ‘dial 100’ slogan and called police. A police team reached within 7 minutes,” he said. Detective Inspector N Shankar said that it was gross negligence on the part of the bank staff who forgot to lock the machine properly. “These boys, all of them looking for jobs, went to withdraw Rs 200 but found so much cash. There was no security guard and the ATM does not have a CCTV camera. They could have done anything they wanted. Instead, they decided to inform the police,’’ Shankar said. Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy felicitated Ali and gave him a certificate and cash reward on Saturday.
