அப்துல் லத்தீஃப் ஜமீல் வறுமை ஒழிப்பு ஆய்வகத்தில் Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) பணி புரிந்து வரும் பேராசிரியர்.அபிஜித் பேனர்ஜி , எஸ்த்தர் டுஃப்லோ, மற்றும் ஹார்வர்ட் பல்கலை கழக பேராசிரியர் மைக்கெல் கிரிமர் ஆகியோருக்கு இந்த ஆண்டு பொருளாதாரத்திற்க்கான நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டதை நாம் அறிவோம். நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற இந்தியரான அபிஜித் பேனர்ஜி நோபல் பரிசு பெற்றது நமக்கெல்லாம் மகிழ்ச்சி. அதே நேரம் இந்த ஆய்வு பணிகளுக்காக உலகமெங்கும் ஆய்வுக் கூடங்களை நிறுவி அதற்காக பொருளாதாரத்தை வாரி வழங்கி வரும் அப்துல் லதீஃப் ஜமீல் என்ற நிறுவனத்தைப் பற்றி பலர் அறிந்திருக்க மாட்டோம்.

இந்நிறுவனத்தின் ரியாத்தில் உள்ள கிடங்குக்கு ஒரு முறை சென்றுள்ளேன். அதன் நீளத்தையும் அகலத்தையும் கண்டு வியந்துள்ளேன். டொயோடா, லக்ஸஸ் போன்ற வாகனங்களின் மொத்த ஏஜன்ஸியும் மற்றும் வீடு கட்டுமான பொருட்கள், பெட்ரூம் போன்ற வீட்டு அழகு சாதன பொருட்கள் வரை இவர்கள் கால் பதிக்காத இடமே இல்லை. உலகெங்கும் பல வியாபாரத் தளங்களோடு ஆய்வு கூடங்களையும் நடத்தி வருகின்றனர். இத்தனை உதவிகள் செய்து வரும் இந்நிறுவனத்தைப் பற்றிய புரிதல் பலருக்கு இருப்பதில்லை. அதனை விளக்குவதற்காகவே இப்பதிவு.

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a global research center working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty, and builds partnerships with governments, NGOs, donors, and others to generate new research, share knowledge, and scale up effective programs.[1] As of 2018, more than 400 million people have been reached by scale-ups of programs found to be effective by J-PAL affiliates’ research
